Visakhapatnam: With resumption of mining operation by Orissa Minerals Development Company (OMDC) in Odisha, the management of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited hopes to source a part of its iron ore requirement from its mines in the neighbouring State in the near future.
Due to legal hurdles, OMDC could not mine iron ore and manganese in Odisha. OMDC became a subsidiary of RINL after the latter acquired strategic control over Bird Group of Companies.
RINL Chairman-cum-Managing Director Atul Bhatt during his New Financial Year address, said “in the area of raw material securitisation, we had taken several initiatives, with timely intervention from the Ministry of Steel. We increased usage of indigenous coals in the blend and advance payment from customers was incentivized.”
